The well-being of your child is our top priority, now, and always. You can feel confident knowing Grand Tots’ centers have been leading the charge in northwest Indiana and across the state in implementing rigorous health and safety measures. In fact, our example helped inspire a new statewide campaign for families and early care and education providers. Starting at the front door, our already robust health and safety procedures have been enhanced to ensure a clean, welcoming school environment.
Due to recent events, Grand Tots Intergenerational Day Center, Inc. (Grand Tots) has begun to prepare for possible community transmission of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). I want to assure you that our top priority is the health and safety of our students, families, and staff. To better ensure this, Grand Tots will begin to implement additional, precautionary procedures in order to limit possible exposure in our school.
These precautions will include:
Additionally, the Center for Disease Control and multiple state agencies have issued guidance for the operation of childcare facilities. This guidance requires Grand Tots to follow specific parameters in order for us to remain open during a possible community outbreak. Some of these measures include:
Please know that the Board of Directors and I are taking every precaution possible to keep our community safe and to keep you informed. At this time, Grand Tots is committed to remaining open and providing a high-quality educational environment for our students and a service for our parents who need to go to work. However, should anyone within our “Grand Tots family” test positive for COVID-19, we will work with our state and local health officials to determine the best way forward. If at any time you suspect that anyone in your family may have been exposed to COVID-19, we ask that you let us know immediately so that we can do our best to protect the health and safety of others.
If you have any questions or additional concerns, my door is always open. I can also be reached at (219) 374-6025 or at grandtots101@aol.com.
The center shall make every effort to control the spread of communicable diseases,
and shall establish health policies and precautions as directed by the Board of Health. The center will issue immediate notification of existing cases of communicable disease for parents to be informed and take special precautions as directed. Likewise, parents need to alert the school of their child’s exposure to communicable disease so that we may notify all current families immediately.
Special precautions will be taken in permitting a child to return to school after an extended illness. Unless there is a statement from your doctor, a child who does not appear fully recovered will not be re-admitted to the school.
If a child becomes ill during school, the child shall be isolated from the group until
he/she is picked up by the parent. Pick-up, of course, should be done as quickly as possible. Since young children are so susceptible to disease, a child will be sent home for one or more of the following conditions:
You will be notified of any significant occurrences or problems that affect your child, including exposure to communicable diseases. Your child must be fever-free (with NO medication) for 72 hours before they can return to school.
